Our STEM Maths Challenge! (Science, Maths, Engineering, Technology). We LOVED this fun challenge!

We had 4 big marshmellows, 20 mini marshmellows, and 20 sticks of spaghetti.

The challenge was to build the tallest tower ...that did not fall over!

We talked about our ideas first, within our teams. We all contributed our ideas.

Then we started building!

We discovered we needed a sturdy base.

We discovered some of our ideas didn't work.

We changed our plans and modified our constructions as we went.

The discussion was focused and intense!

We discovered that some of us have different skills.

We collaborated to make the most of all our skills.
(This was the winning structure. We learnt that triangles are strong supports).

We discovered that we couldn't go higher until we had sorted the base.

Some bases were wide, some bases were smaller.

Some of the taller structures didn't support themselves and tipped over. We talked about how we could improve that next time.

When we had finished, the winning team answered questions about how they built their structure. It was good to hear how the experts did it, and what they learnt along the way!
